Rong Bridge is the 6th and newest bridge across the Han River. Because the bridge is shaped like a dragon, it is called Dragon Bridge
Rong Bridge is 666m long, 37.5m wide with 6 lanes running through. Construction began on January 19, 2007, and officially opened to traffic on January 29, 2013. The construction cost of the bridge was nearly VND1.5 trillion (US$<> million). The bridge was designed by Ammann &; Whitney Consulting Engineers with Louis Berger Group. The construction is carried out by <> Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.
This modern bridge crosses the Han River at Le Dinh Duong/Bach Dang roundabout. Create the shortest route from Da Nang International Airport to major roads in Da Nang city. And a direct route to My Khe beach, Non Nuoc beach east of the city. The bridge is designed and built in the shape of a dragon, capable of breathing fire and sprinkle like in real life.
Currently, the time of fire and water spraying starts from 21h00 on Saturdays, Sundays and major holidays.
By design, the dragon on the bridge can breathe fire for two minutes, followed by 3 minutes of spraying water. Making Dragon Bridge has become an impressive, unique and attractive highlight in Da Nang city.
At the proposal of Da Nang city leaders on flame spraying:
Must be sprayed off, forming each halo with a diameter of 2-3 meters and 8-10 meters away, the halo must be highly aesthetic, in harmony with the environmental landscape, absolutely not damage the surface and structural structure. The fire must spray at an angle of 15-45 degrees, pointing upwards from the vertical of the bridge, and no ash or oil will fall. The oil is completely burned, creating fire and smoke; Convenient for operation, maintenance and maintenance; The equipment must be modern, absolutely safe, capable of working in different weather conditions…
In fact, during a test spray on September 6, 2013, it sprayed 9 fireballs with the diameter of each fireball reaching between 3 and 4 meters and the halo going from 10 to 15 meters. Through test measurements, the bridge, on one demonstration night, consumed 54-81 litres of oil and about 2kWh of electricity for flame spraying. The total cost at that time was from VND 2 million to VND 2.<> million. In the future, the fire extinguishing equipment system will be improved in the style of “Dragon with jewel”. When breathing fire, the front half of the gem will open. When spraying is complete, the gem will automatically close.
Spraying water is not the same as setting fire. The cost of one night of Dragon water spray (3 minutes) only costs about 200 to 250 thousand VND according to the price of the test time. One spray (3 minutes) requires 20m3 of water and 40kWh of electricity. The Dragon does not spray dense currents of water, but sprays water into a very strong, beautiful steam, expressing the desire to reach Da Nang. To do this, the bridge is designed to hold 20 cubic meters of water, 325 cubic meters of compressed air. Produces tens of thousands of cubic meters of steam and sprays water with a flow rate of 1, 944 l / s.
The bridge has a total investment of up to 1498 billion 684 million VND (about 80 million USD)
