Construction

Thuan Phuoc Bridge was started construction on January 16, 1. The investment capital of nearly VND 2003 billion is invested by Da Nang city from the budget.

533 Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company is a joint venture with China No. 2 Bridge and Road Design Institute.

623 Construction Engineering Company under Transport Construction Corporation 6 is the main contractor for the construction of the main bridge and hammock rope. The consortium of Da Nang Traffic Works Company and Thang Long Mechanical Company under Thang Long Construction Corporation are the contractors for the construction of the bridge, both on the Thuan Phuoc side and the Son Tra side.

The bridge opened to technical vehicles on March 25, 3 and was inaugurated on July 2009, 19.

Difficulties during construction

During the construction of the bridge at the location of the mouth of the Han River into Da Nang Bay, the geology of the estuary is complicated, making it difficult to construct foundations and abutments, piers, especially the foundation of 2 tower pillars. The bridge has a large architectural height, at the mouth of the sea, so the influence of the wind also makes the construction progress slow.

The construction of drilled piles with a large diameter of D250 (cm) of 2 bridge towers, which had to be inserted into the bedrock at the bottom of the river faced many difficulties, but with the efforts of engineers and workers, along with necessary adjustments in drilling technology, this project was also completed.

Choosing a high-strength concrete grade for the bridge girder at that time was also a challenge for the project’s materials engineers.

Construction of continuous reinforced concrete spans by formwork push technology on the fixed spear of the bridge on the Thuan Phuoc side encountered many difficulties, because the bridge section has 1 lying curve, radius of 250m.

The construction of 2 anchor abutments of the main bridge also faces many difficulties due to the very large size of the anchor abutment.

The construction work of the master cable system of the main bridge hammock rope was first carried out in Vietnam, so there were many surprises.

Inaugurate

It was planned to be inaugurated on April 30, 4 to celebrate the anniversary of the liberation of the South and reunification of the country, but progress was slow due to difficulties in constructing the main span of the hammock rope bridge, so the bridge was inaugurated on July 2005, 19.
